Have you heard the News? Nova Scotia has another winery!

Annapolis Highland Vineyards in Bear River East is just minutes from the historic town of Annapolis Royal and is the 14th licensed winery. In this area of southwestern
Nova Scotia some of the first grape vines in Canada were planted in the 1600s and this area is now home to many vineyards. Annapolis Highland Vineyards officially opened their doors on June, 2009 and were proud to announce they had been awarded a Silver Medal for their Pinot Gris in the white vinifera category in the First Annual Atlantic Canadian Wine Competition which was held in Halifax, Nova Scotia that same weekend. Annapolis Highland Vineyards also won a Bronze medal for their DeChaunac in red other category at this same wine competition

Annapolis Highland Vineyards is positioned on a hill and features 3.6 hectares under vine with nearly 10,000 vines planted over the past 4 years. Their vine varities are Pinot Gris, Geisenheim Riesling, Cabernet Franc, New York Muscat, Castel, Gamay (for the making of Beaujolais Nouveau) and Dechaunac.

Annapolis Highland Vineyards 2008 vintages of Nova Scotia wines include Gris, DeChaunac, Geisenheim Riesling and the Annapolis Highland Vineyards specialty Highland Blue. This wine blends wild Nova Scotia blueberries with a hint of Cabernet Franc. Annaplois Highland Vineyards has just released their newest wine, Highland Blue Dolce. This is a lovely dessert wine using the same blending as the Highland Blue wine.
