Manitoba is one of the three Canadian Prarie provinces and Manitoba is a Cree name meaning "the place where the spirit (manitou) speaks." The capitol city is Winnipeg and the second largest city is Brandon. Winnipeg is the largest city with over 700,000 people and the Royal Canadian Mint is in Winnipeg.

Manitoba is home to many Metis and native peoples along with many large ethic groups such as Ukrainian, Mennonite and Icelandic.

Manitoba is known as the land of 100,000 lakes and Lake Winnipeg, Lake Winnipegosis and Lake Manitoba are the three largest lakes. The three largest rivers are the Churchill River, Nelson River, and Hayes River. Manitoba sells hydro-electric power to other provinces and to the United States and one-third of the farmland is used for growing wheat.
