Sooner State

Oklahoma hospitality is plentiful anywhere you go and you will find something happening almost every weekend of the year throughout the state. Oklahomans like to celebrate their living history, music, rodeos, pow wows, hold food festivals and craft shows so there will always be something to keep you occupied whether it is helping with these events or enjoying them. World class museums, historic sites, top rates zoos, Route 66 icons and roller coasters are some of the attractions to be found in Oklahoma. If rock climbing, clear lakes, lush forests, riding sand dunes or floating on the currents of the Illinois River are more in line with your interests then Oklahoma offers all these too.

Oil made Oklahoma a rich state but natural-gas production has now surpassed it. Oil refining, meat packing, food processing and machinery manufacturing (especially construction and oil equipment) are important industries. Minerals produced in Oklahoma include helium, gypsum, zinc, cement, coal, copper, and silver. The rich plains of Oklahoma produce bumper yields of wheat, sorghum, hay, cotton, and peanuts. More than half of Oklahoma's annual farm receipts come livestock products including cattle, dairy, swine and broilers.
